Are your FuelBox combos & in-bed tanks gravity feed systems?
No, our FuelBox auxiliary tanks are not gravity feed systems.
We intentionally designed our system this way because we believe gravity feed is not the best or safest option for modern diesel trucks. While gravity feed systems are often cheaper, they come with several significant drawbacks:
- Risk of overfilling the factory tank, which can cause fuel to spill onto the ground.
- Check engine lights on most newer trucks, since the stock tank stays constantly full.
- Disables your truck’s mileage calculator (miles-to-empty and MPG readings).
- Major safety concern: If a fuel line ever ruptures due to an accident, age, or wear, fuel will continuously drain from the auxiliary tank onto the ground, creating both an environmental hazard and a serious fire risk.
For these reasons, we use our patented Plug & Play Auto Fuel Controller (AFC-PP) system instead. It automatically transfers fuel only when needed, keeps your factory tank at a normal level, maintains all your truck’s electronics and mileage data, and includes built-in safety controls.
Modern diesel trucks are highly sophisticated, much like how no new vehicle since the Model T has come from the factory with a gravity feed fuel system. We believe your truck (and your safety) deserve better than outdated technology.

How difficult is it to install a FuelBox?
We’ve made every effort to make installation as simple as possible. Anyone with basic mechanical skills can install the FuelBox along with the optional Auto Fuel Controller (AFC) system or the TP13 transfer pump system.
Every FuelBox kit includes all the necessary components for a complete installation (excluding standard hand tools you likely already own), so there’s no need to run back and forth to the parts store. How long will it take me to do an install?
Installation time varies depending on your mechanical experience, truck configuration and the system you choose. Most FuelBox installations can be completed in an afternoon.
- TP13 Transfer Pump – The FuelBox equipped with the TP13 Transfer Pump typically takes 1–2 hours to install.
- Auto Fuel Controller (AFC) – A FuelBox with the Auto Fuel Controller (AFC) system generally takes 4–5 hours.

Will installing The FuelBox void my vehicle's warranty?
No. Installing The FuelBox auxiliary diesel fuel tank according to the instructions provided will not void your vehicle’s factory warranty. The FuelBox systems are engineered to integrate with your truck’s existing fuel system, by using the supplied components it is designed to operate without affecting normal vehicle functions.
Will my diesel pickup pass an emission test?
Yes, our tanks do not alter the stock fuel delivery system. By not altering this system The FuelBox auxiliary diesel fuel tanks are approved for use without exemption by the California Air Resources Board (CARB).
Will your tanks work in a gasoline truck?
No. The FuelBox auxiliary tanks are designed for diesel fuel only. Because gasoline trucks use different evaporative emissions systems, our vented diesel tanks are not compatible with most gasoline-powered pickups and may trigger a check engine light or affect emissions compliance.
Do your tanks come with a warranty?
Yes. The FuelBox products are backed by warranty coverage to give you confidence in your investment. Our aluminum tanks are covered by a 3-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, including component parts. Auto Fuel Controller (AFC) products are covered by a 1-year warranty. Fuel pumps carry a 1-year warranty, and transfer pumps carry a 2-year warranty, both subject to the warranty provisions of their original manufacturers.

Yes. We ship The FuelBox products throughout the United States and Canada. To help keep shipping costs as low as possible, we recommend shipping to a commercial address or a local freight terminal for pickup. However, residential delivery is also available upon request. What is the difference between an auxiliary fuel tank and a transfer tank?
An auxiliary fuel tank is designed to extend your truck’s driving range by feeding fuel into your factory tank. A transfer tank is designed to move fuel from your truck to external equipment like tractors, generators, skid steers, or other vehicles.

How does the fuel transfer system work?
Fuel is moved from the auxiliary tank using a pump system that can be manually controlled or configured with an automatic controller (depending on your setup). This allows you to either transfer fuel into your truck’s main tank or dispense it externally.
Can I remove the FuelBox if needed?
Yes. The FuelBox systems are designed to be securely mounted but removable if necessary, provided installation is properly reversed and hardware is preserved.
